Decluttering Adventures: Old Art 6

Hand me a pack of felt tip markers and I’m in my element. This A3-sized drawing from my 2007 visual art diary is part of my “gothic girls in fishnets” phase. Not that anyone ought to outgrow that phase, I mean, I certainly haven’t!

Please note that when I share personal anecdotes, opinions, musings and stories, I am by necessity writing from my own specific social context, experiences and perspective. I concede that my worldview is a work in progress. It is not complete. Nor is anyone else's. We are not omniscient beings. I try to approach the world with the philosophy that every narrative, idea and perspective can be woven together like threads in a tapestry to help us achieve a more complete picture of the world we inhabit. Our different cultures, ethnicities, beliefs, and experiences do not necessarily need to be opposed, but can participate in creating a broader, more complex understanding of the world. I do not expect my blog to be relatable to everyone, though I in no way actively intend to exclude others from this site. I write from the perspective of an Anglo-Celtic Australian woman, married with children, and university-educated in the fields of sociology, history, climate change and journalism. I am rural Victoria born-and-raised but currently live in Melbourne, Victoria. I love nature and animals. A metalhead and classical music fan. An artist. Heavily influenced by the philosophies of Christian mysticism, Celtic Christianity, Norse mythology, critical realism, non-dualism, and ecofeminism. My religious background is Catholic. I am an ex-Pentecostal. And a former Neo-Pagan. While I seek to make my writings as accessible as possible, I am – like we all are – ultimately only able to write faithfully and with integrity by beginning with my own unique starting point.
