October Digital Art: Blue Horse 01

It’s a beautifully sunny spring day in Melbourne, Australia today. I am looking forward to November and starting my fourth NaNoWriMo, but in the meantime I am trying to stock up my RedBubble store!

After several false starts this morning, I managed to draw a blue horse using Medi Bang Paint and my Wacom Intuos tablet.

At the time of publishing this post, I have made this image available for sale on a variety of RedBubble products including clothing, phone and laptop covers, pencil cases, notebooks, bed linen and art prints. See flokot.redbubble.com for more details.

October Digital Drawings: Blue Flags

Something a little different for me, this is a first draft of an idea I have for a bumper sticker I want to make for myself. It started with The Husband wondering if I could channel my Formula One fangirling into drawing Sebastian Vettel. It sort of morphed into generic driver in generic car getting angry at slower drivers not moving out of the way in response to blue flags. It sort of also symbolises how I feel whenever I drive the kids to school and get stuck behind Melbourne’s interminably incompetent driving community where families with one child apiece purchase the most obnoxiously large 4WDs/SUVs for the sole purpose of conveying said child to school and grocery shopping. I have a little red Hyundai hatchback and a fancier Skoda Octavia RS that we like to take for regular spins down the Great Ocean Road (okay technically that car belongs to The Husband but I am driving it at the moment while he works interstate and my own car languishes in the airport long-term car parking), and I get very impatient driving behind the slowpokes in their oversized, under-utilised cars.

It was too much fun drawing this and if any of you follow F1 you’ll know that they’ve been something of a meme during the 2016 season.

October 2016 Art

I didn’t manage to catch the Inktober train this year but I have been drawing regularly prior to NaNoWriMo. I want to get as much drawing out of my system as I can, before I disappear into the realm of words for a whole month.

Here are some of today’s efforts so far!

I also finally got around to making a header picture to emblazon the top of my RedBubble portfolio. After several false starts, I settle for a pink, purple and blue unicorn galloping through space. I think that this, more than anything else that I attempted, best summarises the type of art I have in my portfolio!

Digital Drawings October 2016: Smily Blue Cat Face

I’m binge-drawing before NaNoWriMo begins. I drew this cat in MediBang Paint Pro, using a Wacom Intuos. I still feel like a complete beginner in digital drawing. I like how clean it is, though, in the sense that when I upload files there are no mysterious bits of pixelated fluff, as there often is when I scan my hand drawn art!

At the time of publishing this blog post, this drawing is currently available for purchase on stickers, art prints, and a variety of other products. For more information see my RedBubble portfolio at flokot.redbubble.com.

New Stickers

I’ve been plugging away (slowly) at trying to get the hang of digital art. At this stage I am using MediBang Paint Pro – if I continue to progress I plan to upgrade to one of the more professional art programmes, but that said MediBang Paint is proving to be a wonderful learning tool. I have a Wacom Intuos tablet that is absolutely fantastic.
