My blog posts related to leaving church

This page is a work in progress and more details will be added as time and creative energy permit.

This is a selection of some of the blog posts I wrote in the past that, in hindsight, seem to chart my shift away from the Pentecostal faith of my 20s and my journey into Christian mysticism, contemplative practices and the challenges of readjusting to life after Pentecostalism. At the time I wrote the older posts, I assumed that I would remain in Pentecostalism, at the very least until my children were adults. So in late 2015, it was a genuine shock of self-revelation for me to reach a point of acknowledging that I no longer believed in most of it. And in 2016 I made the terribly difficult but deliberate step of ending my membership. I left in ‘good standing,’ that is, they were very nice about it and I don’t think my leaving was a negative act. Just a recognition of a new stage in my journey.

It is interesting for me to now look back on my old posts and journals and remember how much I wrestled. I did not want to leave, but I had to, for the sake of my faith, my sanity, and my family.
